Agni-4 Ballistic Missile

India recently successfully conducted a test launch of the Agni-4 medium-range ballistic missile from the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur, Odisha. The launch was carried out under the aegis of the Strategic Forces Command (SFC), which manages India’s strategic nuclear forces.

About Agni-4

  • Agni-4 is an indigenously developed, intermediate-range, surface-to-surface ballistic missile belonging to the Agni series. It has been developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
  • The missile is approximately 20 metres long, has a strike range of around 4,000 km and can carry a payload of approximately 1,000 kg.

  • Agni-4 incorporates advanced avionics, onboard computers, inertial navigation and guidance systems, enabling accurate targeting and stability during flight.
  • Its successful test demonstrates the missile's operational readiness and strengthens India's credible strategic deterrence capability.
